Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Version 5: Reading, Mathematics, Science, English and Language Usage
First, i want to state that I graduated from college over two-and-a-half decades ago and possess not taken a proper class since that time. I decided to begin a second career like a nurse but were forced to take the TEAS test to obtain accepted in the ADN program within my community college. I have never taken microbiology or anatomy, and my last chemistry and biology classes were taken over two-and-a-half decades ago. I scored an 88% raw score (“Advanced” rating), that has a 98 percentile, nationally as well as the ADN program. All I did was study this book. I did not pick the online tests. Here’s a breakdown of each one section and the way the book than the actual test:
1. Reading Comprehension. I studied the explanations of all of the terms and did the practice questions. I did not consider the practice exams within the back of the novel because I was focusing on the science section, but I wish I had taken time to do these tests several days before the test while they were similar. You can’t really study for just a reading comprehension test, however it’s helpful to practice like questions that is to be asked and browse the explanations for questions you missed.
2. Math. This section was a breeze, and the majority of the problems were covered by the ebook, excluding one work rate problem. You can google how to try and do these. The one thing I didn’t study enough was which kind of graph make use of, given a collection of data. This wasn’t really covered well in the publication either, so google it.
3. Science. Sooooo hard! I almost begun to cry seeing the first page because I could only confidently answer one of the primary five questions. But I took a deep breath and seriously considered what I did know for each and every question, and used that information to have a best guess. I will point out that every *topic* was covered in it, nevertheless, you will have to embark on your own and find out about each topic. All I did was watch the youtube videos by Bozeman Science. They are all short (about 5-12 minutes long) and cover every topic in the ebook in greater detail. I think the Bozeman videos less complicated better than Khan Academy. There were many chemistry questions (pretty basic) and a great deal of scientific reasoning questions. I did not study that area enough. Even though I felt like I guessed on half the questions, I got a raw score of 77% so whatever I did should have worked.
5. Grammar. This was the best section. Every question was covered in the novel. Just examine it and perform sample problems.
Keep in your mind that you can make up for just a bad science score with fantastic scores on the other side categories, so don’t just give attention to science. Take some time to do the many practice problems and exercise tests in each category, does not fine. Good luck!
