The Walking Dead, Vol. 1: Days Gone Bye

Taking a well-worn genre—flesh-eating zombies overrun the globe and the unlucky surviving humans must handle the gruesome aftermath—and approaching it at a purely character-driven mindset propels this series into the spotlight from beyond nowhere. This bunch of the first six issues in the ongoing series opens with cop Rick Grimes awakening from your gunshot-induced coma. From here, he’s immediately dragged in to a world where dangerous revenants are shambling amok with virtually no sort of a clarification. From the moment Grimes relates to, it is just a harrowing battle to stop hordes of decomposing zombies plus a hope-against-all-odds hunt for his missing family. Grimes makes his solution to Atlanta, the nearest large city its keep may be other living people, and events take several unexpected turns upon his arrival, because he meets track of a rural encampment of survivors. Of course, as with recent hit movies 28 Days Later… and Dawn on the Dead, the very last humans may turn to be as often a danger since the zombies. Forceful scripting that offers the book a powerful grounding the simple truth is, crisp b&w artwork, a shocking final sequence and brisk, gory proceedings elevate this book from your trash heap of pedestrian horror comics.
